Mixed Media expands the limitations of emotion that flavor imparts on us by banding together art and cocktails under one signet. Using the flavor of creatively crafted cocktails by one of Columbus's top bartenders, guests will be able to gaze upon selected works of a local artist. This confluence of sight, smell, and taste will supplement one another to create a more immersive experience for the viewer.
How exactly can this be achieved? By removing the menu from the bar. Your menu will be the gallery. View the work on the wall and find a piece that resonates with you, order that piece through the bartender and you will receive a cocktail that has been thoughtfully prepared with a flavor profile that reflects the emotions of the art. Sip, stare, and think.
This month we are featuring the versatility of Lindsay Koontz. Lindsay, an Ohio native earning her Master in Fine Arts degree from Ohio University, has an extensive background in the arts including sculpture, performance, and 19th century photographic processes. After years of teaching, she found her way back to the service industry, working at some of the top bars and restaurants in the city including managing the bar program at Nomad, bartending at Speck Italian Eatery, and currently acting as one of the creative directors and managers of the new cocktail and wine bar “I like it like that”. Koontz’s work often exists at the intersection between art, food, science, and psychology; for her, creating cocktails ignites the same spark of curiosity, creativity, and intrigue
For this time around P.J. Ford and Lindsay are going to each create drinks that are inspired by a selection of the other’s photos to further sketch the dynamics of the crossover between art and cocktails.
